1099-Season Kit for bookkeepers and small CPA firms
Collect W-9s from your clients' vendors without the chasing, catch bad TINs and sanctioned payees before January, and move your old FIRE files to IRIS before the IRS switches FIRE off.
This is a pre-order. The kit is not built yet. Delivery by December 15, 2026, or you get an automatic full refund. Full refund on request any time before first use.
The problem
Every January the same work lands on a small firm at once. You pull the list of vendors each client paid, email them for W-9s, chase the ones who ignore you, fix the TINs that were typed wrong, and then file. This year there is one more job: the IRS is retiring the FIRE e-file system, so any firm that files through FIRE has to move to IRIS, with a new Transmitter Control Code (TCC) and a different file format.
The deadlines
- Nov 19, 2026Last day to file information returns through FIRE, at 3 p.m. ET. The IRS has also stopped accepting new FIRE TCC applications. Source: IRS, Filing Information Returns Electronically (FIRE).
- Jan 1, 2027From January 1, 2027, IRIS is the only electronic filing system for information returns, including current year, prior year and corrections. Current FIRE users need an IRIS TCC to file tax year 2026 returns in 2027. Source: IRS, FIRE retirement notice; IRS, E-file information returns with IRIS.
- Jan 31Form 1099-NEC is due to the IRS and to recipients by January 31. When that date falls on a weekend, as it does in 2027, the due date is the next business day. Source: IRS, Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.
What's in the kit
1. W-9 collection from QuickBooks Online
- Connect a client's QuickBooks Online company and pull the vendors paid at or above your threshold in 2026. You can also upload a vendor CSV.
- Each vendor gets an email asking for a W-9 through a secure form, with automatic reminders until it comes back.
- One dashboard per client shows who has responded, who hasn't, and what is missing.
2. TIN format check and OFAC screening
- TIN format check: catches TINs that can't be valid, such as the wrong length, impossible SSN or EIN prefixes, and placeholder numbers, and flags a mismatch between the entity type and the TIN type.
- Sanctions screening: screens payee names against the OFAC sanctions lists using the screening engine behind our KYC and KYT products. Possible matches are flagged for you to review; nothing is decided automatically.
3. FIRE to IRIS file converter
- Upload a legacy FIRE file in the Publication 1220 fixed-width format. The converter checks it and writes the records out as CSV files for upload to the IRIS Taxpayer Portal.
- It reports every record it can't convert and why, so nothing is dropped silently.
- You file through IRIS yourself, under your own IRIS TCC.
What it does NOT do
- It is not IRS TIN Matching. TIN Matching requires IRS e-Services enrollment. The kit checks TIN format only. It does not confirm that a name and TIN match IRS records.
- It is not IRS-approved, and we are not an IRS partner. Infinihash has no approval, endorsement or partnership from the IRS.
- It does not file for you. We don't transmit returns to the IRS or to states. You keep filing through IRIS with your own TCC.
- It doesn't get you an IRIS TCC. Apply for that with the IRS now, because approval takes time.
- No QuickBooks Desktop connection in this release. Desktop users can upload a vendor CSV.
- It is not tax or legal advice. You decide who gets a 1099 and what goes on it.

Pre-order terms
- It isn't built yet. You are paying to reserve a season pass for a product that will be delivered by December 15, 2026.
- Automatic refund if we're late. If we haven't delivered by December 15, 2026, we refund the full $99 automatically. You don't have to ask.
- Refund on request. You can ask for a full refund any time before your first use, for any reason. Email [email protected] or reply to your receipt.
- The $1-per-vendor fee is billed only after you use the kit, and only for the vendors you process.
- At checkout we ask for your firm's name and a rough count of 1099 vendors across your clients. That helps us size the first release.
FAQ
- Is this IRS-approved?
- No. Infinihash is not approved by, endorsed by or partnered with the IRS. The kit helps you prepare. You file through IRIS yourself.
- Does it do IRS TIN Matching?
- No. IRS TIN Matching needs e-Services enrollment. We check that a TIN is in a valid format, which catches typos and placeholder numbers. It does not confirm a name and TIN against IRS records.
- Why pre-order instead of a free trial?
- We want to know that firms will actually pay for this before we build it. If we don't ship by December 15, 2026, your money comes back automatically.
- I file through FIRE today. What do I need to do?
- FIRE takes its last filing on November 19, 2026. Apply for an IRIS TCC with the IRS now; FIRE TCCs don't carry over. Then use the converter to turn your existing Publication 1220 files into IRIS upload files.
- Which IRIS format does the converter produce?
- CSV files for upload to the IRIS Taxpayer Portal. If you transmit through IRIS A2A (application-to-application), tell us. We'll tell you before you use it whether your forms and volume are covered.
- Which forms are covered?
- The first release targets 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC, which make up most small-firm volume. If you need other forms converted, tell us which ones when you pre-order.
- What happens to my clients' vendor data?
- QuickBooks access is read-only and limited to vendor and payment data. W-9 data is encrypted, used only to prepare your 1099s, and deleted on request. We never sell it or use it for marketing.
- What does the $1 per vendor cover?
- Each vendor you send a W-9 request to or screen, across all your clients, once per season. It's billed after use, never at pre-order.
- Who is behind this?
- Infinihash LLC, a Wyoming company that builds identity verification and sanctions screening tools. Jason Vardon reads every email to [email protected].
